Batman Beyond and the DCAU have created an interesting pocket of DC mythos. Find out what a number of parts of this pocket are up to after the jump…
Ten Surprise Guest Stars in DC’s Animated Universe
![]()
Warner Bros. Animation took cartoons away from the Saturday morning kiddie line-up and made it accessible to people of all ages when it introduced Batman: The Animated Series to the world. Superman, Batman Beyond, and The Justice League all earned high praise from fans as well. While the writers and producers spent a great deal of time finding just the right voice for Batman (Kevin Conroy), Superman (Tim Daly), The Joker (Mark Hammill), and Lois Lane (Dana Delany), it’s the casting of the guest stars who proved the creators wanted to craft the best animated television shows possible.
The list of famous voices is long when it comes to the televised DC animated universe, but we’ve narrowed it down to 10 that make our ears perk up and make us ask, “Is that who I think it is?”
Batman Beyond and Mister Terrific join the animated JLU

If you are like me, and continue to collect the Justice League Unlimited figures, then you’ll be happy to learn that Batman Beyond and Mister Terrific are joining the lineup later this year at fine Target stores everywhere (expect Topeka, Lawrence and Salina, Kansas).
* Future JLU Superman with Starro Spore — In a double dose of firsts, this release will mark the initial availability of an all-new figure, plus it includes fan-favorite Starro Spore as a never-before-offered accessory!
* Barry Allan as The Flash with Lightning Bolt — It’s the first time this figure is offered, so you’ll want to catch him before he’s gone in a… well, you know…
* Power Ring — Evil twins everywhere will rejoice when Power Ring joins their ranks for the first time as an action figure. Features a giant green hand construct.
* Batman Beyond with Batarang — Available for the first time as a single, Batman is ready to battle the bad guys when stocked with this staple from his arsenal.
* Mr. Terrific — Also making his big debut as a single, the ever-present T-spheres have been completely redesigned.
No word on release date just yet, but you can bet I’ll be buying these from Mattel directly when they are available.
Interview: James Woods is Owlman
![]()
Nobody captures villainy quite like James Woods. The two-time Emmy Award winning actor steals his every scene as the voice of Owlman in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, an all-new DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movie now available from Warner Premiere, Warner Home Video, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation.
In Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, a “good†Lex Luthor arrives from an alternate universe to recruit the Justice League to help save his Earth from the Crime Syndicate, a gang of villainous characters with virtually identical super powers to the Justice League. What ensues is the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a war that threatens both planets and, through a diabolical plan launched by Owlman, puts the balance of all existence in peril.
Woods was the lone member of the cast not to record his lines in the presence of voice director Andea Romano and producer Bruce Timm, instead setting up shop in Providence, Rhode Island to record via ISDN line. You’ll never notice. In Owlman, Woods has crafted an affecting, subtly evil performance that brings forth a truly memorable villain in a film packed with the world’s most famous super heroes.
Toy Fair 2010: Mattel shows off new action figures
If you are wondering what Mattel will be bringing to the toy table in 2010, take a gander at these images taken at the booth that spells it all out for you.
That Lobo animated figure comes to MattyCollector.com in the Spring
Justice Guild arrives tomorrow

Be thankful you’re not at the 2010 Toy Fair in New York because you’d probably be so busy, you’d miss out on the latest Justice League figures to join the collection.
Justice League Unlimited: The toy line that will never die

And I for one am more than happy to see the JLU line from Mattel continue until I am an old, old man. What the hell am I talking about? Mattel announced over the holiday that the Justice League Unlimited toy line will continue in Spring 2010 with new figures available through Target.
We have some great singles, 3 packs and 6 packs in store including many more fan demanded character, a return to Apokolips and a few out of the blue surprises we think JLU fans are going to love!
Mattel remains very committed to this line. As long as their are fans looking to purchase more JLU figures, we will do all we can to keep them coming. Considering Grodd was slated to be the very last figure, both the fans and dedicated members of the Mattel brand team have fought tooth and nail to keep the line going with a collector focus. We do read the message boards and hear fans requests. While we may not have gotten to every request, if you look back at the last 16 months, look at how many impossible or fan demanded characters we have been able to get to: The Question, Captain Atom, Cheetah, Batman Beyond, Mr. Terrific, Supergirl, Shazam… the list really does go on and on!
At retail we will still need to pair collector figures with more kid friendly selections to keep the line going, but you can be sure JLU will still be around, at least for the first half of 2010.
But there is some sad news about the line…
JLU LOSH 4PK MAY 15

No, that’s not some eye chart test, but rather a reminder that the Justice League Unlimited Legion of Super-Heroes 4-pack will be on sale May 15, 2009 up on the Matty Collector website. Interestingly, my summer officially starts on May 15, which means I’ll be getting my summer started right with these figures.

Oh, Baby! Now this is the stuff I want to see when I go to a comic book convention – all the new action figures coming down the pipe. Mattel always has a good booth showcasing its stuff, and if these images are an indication of what is to come, my wallet is going to by mighty thin by year’s end.
