Or – “It Took Seven Months To Give Us The First Issue?” I’ll say this for the new League, they’re a diverse lot. While still overwhelmingly Caucasian (even if you discount the pink skin of the non-human John Smith and Clark Kent), they’ve given two legacy heroes a chance to step up, righted one of the greatest wrongs of the Detroit-era League by re-inducting Vixen (and putting her back in her old costume), revitalized an old favorite in Red Tornado, finally given Black Lightning a spot at the big table, and have a female chairman, something that I think has
Brad Meltzer has posted the cover for Justice League of America #8 drawn by Michael Turner. Check out the fellow behind Mr. Terrific. Oh, and those who want to comment on Turner’s art style compared to his last outing, feel free.
The last arc of JLA Classified really didn’t do it for me, but a brand new arc kicks off in #37 that has my interest. With the just wrapped Amazo/Red Tornado story over in Justice League of America, Classified brings yet another Amazo story featuring Amazo’s kid? Take the jump for a six page preview.
DC Comics has announced Justice League of America #1 will be going back to press for a third printing. “This is totally awesome,” says Benes. “I feel like we did a great job and delivered a great story! I’d like to thank the fans for all the kind words on the message boards and blogs – and I also would like to thank Dan DiDio, Brad Meltzer and Eddie Berganza for all their faith in my work and . . . I still can’t believe it!” The third printing will feature a pencil only version of the Michael Turner variant
With all the talk of a JLA movie, many are wondering if a Batman and Superman teamup on the silver screen would really work. The answer is YES! And the man to do it is Sandy Collora. This “fan film”/demo reel piece was done by Sandy several years ago, but it still holds up today. I wish Warner had considered both of the actors in this piece for Batman Begins and Superman Returns. Whoa! Didn’t see this one coming. Warner Bros. has hired Kiernan and Michele Mulroney to write the script for the bigscreen team up of the Justice League of America. While I would expect the big guns to be in the movie, Warner did not disclose to Variety who would be the core team members. Please, oh please, oh please don’t do Justice League Detroit! Now that the Batman and Superman film franchises have been revived, does the studio go after Christian Bale (“Batman Begins”) and Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”) to star in a Justice League pic? Studio is also trying
DC Comics will be giving away two very good titles for Free Comic Book Day 2007. First up is The Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century #1. This is the all-ages Johnny DC series spun off from the Kids WB animated series. This will be a 32-page book written by J Torres, with art by Chynna Clugston-Flores. The other issue is Justice League of America #0. This is an issue you will want to get for free as it tels the story of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman putting the League back together following the events of Infinite Crisis.
It was hinted that the heroes that have appeared in CW’s Smallville series should form a league or association of some type (“Like a junior lifeguard association?”). After Thursday night’s run of Smallville, viewers were treated to a preview of an upcoming episode that has Clark, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Bart Allen (Flash), and Victor Stone (Cyborg) teaming up.
