Jennifer Blood has been a woman on a mission from the first issue as presented by Garth Ennis and continues to be so under Al Ewing.  But now, we introduce the full origin of what motivated Jessica Blute to become Jennifer Blood.  The story is revealed this September with Jennifer Blood: First Blood #1!  Written by 2000 A.D. writer Mike Carroll and drawn by Igor Vitorino, this series features beautiful covers by Mike Mayhew!  Make sure to pick up Jennifer Blood: First Blood #1 in September!

REVIEW: The Ninjettes #1

Or – “Which One Is Joanie And Which Is Chachi?”

Spin-offs are always unpredictable, in any medium, but in comics they’re doubly erratic.  A different writer or artist may lose some of the nuances that you loved about the character while she was guest-starring with Turnip-Man.  Or, even worse, they may take your fave-rave background player and stick them in a story you just don’t care about.  The sad truth is, not every spinoff can be Hellblazer.  So, is this John Constantine (300 issues and counting) or poor Doctor Voodoo limping to the barn on the TPB minimum six-issue arc?

REVIEW: Jennifer Blood #1

Or – “A Garth Ennis Joint With A Name Like This?  Oh, Yes, There Will Be Blood.”

I’ll say this for the work of Garth Ennis:  I don’t always know where the story is going, and sometimes I don’t like where it ends up, but I generally trust that the ride will be worth the jolts.  It’s sort of like stepping onto the Gravitron, while a carnie named Junior who you just KNOW is a meth addict eats half a corndog and drinks malt liquor out of a brown paper bag.  Or as a wise young topless woman once told me: ‘A cheap thrill is still a thrill.’
