Image has release another teaser image for Invincible #100, and it may not be Mark that bites it after all.
Invincible has always had nods to famous comic book characters and events, and though we have seen Mark get kicked up and down the galaxy, the latest teaser from Image Comics seems to reflect a Death of Superman vibe.
The miniseries that spun out of Robert Kirkman’s original INVINCIBLE universe, GUARDING THE GLOBE, will be back in September as an ongoing series from Skybound/Image Comics.
Mark Grayson is down for the count, while Zandale Randolph, formerly known as Bulletproof, has donned the role of Invincible. Invincible is being taken care of by the remaining Viltrumites, but do they have an ulterior motive in helping their one-time enemy? How will throwing Dinosaurus into the mix change the dynamic? Find out after the jump!
Ryan Ottley does a great job with Invincible, and in issue 87, Ottley took the time to redesign Dinosaurus.
Allen the Alien makes a difficult decision, Nolan is reunited with Kid Omni-Man, and a lot of people have a lot of sex in this month’s Invincible!
It’s been a while since we’ve featured Ryan Ottley in the Art Appreciation Moment of the Day. Let’s fix that, shall we?
Or – “I Wondered What Happened To That Guy…”
When Powerplex first appeared, I was intrigued by his backstory, a man driven to extreme methods by grief. Even when he attacked the main character of the book, he maintained my sympathy, and since his story never achieved closure, I was looking forward to his return. But, now that he has returned, I’m honestly not certain our main character is safe…
At the NY and Boston comic book conventions, artist Ryan Ottley was busy working on commissions. He recently updated his website with a selection of pieces from the show, and I got a real kick out of his Invincible/Hulk/Superman piece.
Or – “Meanwhile, Back On Earth…”
It’s been some time since Mark Grayson went into space to deal with the Viltrumite menace. After nigh on a year in space, and half a dozen brushed with death, he’s returned home to find his girlfriend Atom Eve has been through a few changes as well…
Wow. Image Comics just caused me a moments pause with mouth agape with this image teasing something interesting going on in Invincible in 2012.
What does it mean, Robert Kirkman? What does it mean!?
Let the speculation spectacular begin!
Of course it is still April 1st…
I’m also betting that if you are at WonderCon, you’ll get some more answers.
If you thought the Viltrumite War was bloody in the last issue of Image Comics’ Invincible, then you will certainly be taken by surprise in what Robert Kirkman has cooked up for the next chapter in the life of Mark Grayson.
