Death Dealer Goes Back to Press

Image Comics has announced Death Dealer #4 has sold out, and is going back to press. “Taking on DEATH DEALER was initially nerve wracking,” series writer Joshua Ortega said. “But the reception the fans have given the series really drives the entire creative team. We always think we’re overestimating on the initial print run, but we’re consistently overwhelmed. Our thought is to reward fans by offering these top of the line, gold and silver foil editions as a big thank you.” Image Comics Publisher Erik Larsen said, “We’re extremely happy readers and retailers alike seem to be enjoying this series…

Captain Victory Needs You…to wait a little longer…

Image Comics has announced it is holding off on the Jack Kirby Captain Victory hardcover. The company is doing this so a proper restoration of the classic comic can be properly restored. “The last thing we want to do is release an inferior version of this material,” Executive Director of Image Comics Eric Stephenson stated. “The more involved we’ve gotten in the restoration process, the more obvious it has become that the files and art we’re working simply aren’t up to par with those used for SILVER STAR. Faced with the decision to either complete a sub-standard edition or do…

Suburban Glamour Heading Back to Press

According to an Image press release, the company had a slight printing error with Suburban Glamour by Jamie McKelvie. “Sadly there are some aspects of producing a comic no one can control,” series creator Jamie McKelvie said. “Image has put the book back to press immediately to ensure release as soon as humanly possible. While I’m highly disappointed by the delay I would rather the issue come out the way it was intended to.” While McKelvie isn’t saying where the foul up occured, it is good to know a company is actually fessing up to a mistake when an issue…

Kirkman Titles Sell Out

The milestone issues of Walking Dead and Invincible are getting ever closer, and according to Image, the titles are at the top of their game, with both titles selling out at the distributor level. “People seem to be real psyched for our big milestone,” said series writer Robert Kirkman. “Having THE WALKING DEAD #42 and INVINCIBLE #45 sell out has gotten the entire creative team very fired up. Ryan Ottley’s and Charlie Adlard’s pages get better and better the closer we get to fifty.”

Madman Atomic Comics #4

Or – “Things Get Even WEIRDER…” One of the most entertaining facets of Mike Allred’s Madman stories (and, indeed, most of the rest of his output as well) is that it’s not just another adventure story.  A Madman story could only take place with Frank Einstein as the main character, as his peculiarities drive the narrative, and his strange point-of-view makes even the most straightforward story a bit wonky.  Now, imagine that the story is already freaky-deakier than a night spent on Quaaludes in Amsterdam with Hunter Thompson, Austin Powers, and the guy who dreamed up Snuffleupagus, talking about the symbolism…

Dynamo 5 #7

Or – “The Ol’ Triple Cross Changeup…” I’ll say this for Maddie Warner: she’s every bit as formidable as her archetypical forebear, Lois Lane.  Faced with not one but TWO super-powered antagonists, she neither cowered nor begged for her life, instead choosing to level the playing field, turn the tables, and several other cliches that I can’t think of right now.  In a team where the gothy girl is the muscle, the big jocky guy is the telepath, and the type-A team leader girl has the atypical power of supersonic flight, it’s just another example of turning a cliche on…

Killing Girl Back to Press

Image Comics has announced the first issue of Killing Girl did very well in the initial release and the company is sending the issue back to press. In the first issue of KILLING GIRL, Viper’s career as an assassin is put into jeopardy when a chance encounter uncovers a piece of her abandoned past life. With issue two, Viper is forced to face the reality that her present life may spell doom for those she cares for. This soul-shattering drama has apparently caught the interest of readers all over as the first issue’s distribution-level sell out comes alongside orders for…

The Pro “Blows” Through Printing

The press release title was just too good to pass up! Image comics announced the latest printing of the prostitute superhero graphic novel “The Pro” sold out immediately at Diamond. “THE PRO helped put a spotlight on Amanda and was the first time I was really cut loose on superheroes,” said series writer Garth Ennis. “We’re not entirely surprised by the continued interest in the book given where our careers have taken us since.”
