NYCC’09: Image Comics Complete Schedule Released

My jealousy for those able to attend all the great comic book convention continues to grow whenever I see the panel, signing, and booth schedules for the various publishers.  Image Comics has sent its rundown, and there are plenty of things for Image fans to do this weekend. Throughout the convention the Image Comics booth will be home to signings galore, a convention exclusive cover of the superhero debut JERSEY GODS and an array of creators including Rob Liefeld (YOUNGBLOOD), Whilce Portacio (SPAWN), Frank Cho (LIBERTY MEADOWS), Richard Starkings (ELEPHANTMEN), Glen Brunswick (JERSEY GODS), Josh Williamson (JOHNNY MONSTER) and Vinny…

NYCC’09: Frank Cho Spotlight

We’re going to get a lot of panel announcements and press releases about the New York Comic Con this week, and we want to make sure everyone knows what’s going on at the show.  Frank Cho is a favorite artist of mine, so checking out his panel presented by Image Comics would be something high on my list. Press Release Follows: LIBERTY MEADOWS creator and NEW ULTIMATES illustrator Frank Cho will be the subject of a live interview and retrospective of his entire career at The New York Comic Con during the APES & BABES: THE FRANK CHO SPOTLIGHT, Saturday,…

Last Chance to Nab Savage Dragon/Obama Issue

Image Comics has announced the fourth and final printing of Savage Dragon #137 is headed back to press.  The issue features Savage Dragon endorsing the then candidate for President. “While we sold out some time ago, we’ve been receiving an awful lot of letters from fans and retailers alike demanding another printing,” Erik Larsen said. “This fourth – and definitely final, I might add – printing commemorates the very first time  a superhero has openly nominated a real-life candidate for Presidential office. It’s been flattering to receive such attention and I hope everyone who’s bought a copy sticks around for…

Image Comics Sneak Peek of the Week

I don’t know how this slipped past me last week – okay, actually I do, but that is a different story for a later time.  In any case, Image Comics has once again provided Major Spoilers with a sneak peek of titles that arrive in stores this week (January 28, 2009).  Take the jump for a peek at Dead Ahead #2, the Missing the Boat trade paperback, Mixtape Volume 3 hard cover, Savage #4, and the Transhuman trade paperback.

Platinum Grit Arrives In March

I’ve been a fan of Trudy Cooper and Danny Murphy’s Platinum Grit web comic for a couple of year now, and when I saw Image Comics is collecting the series in a print volume, it’s something I had to put on my pull list. “PLATINUM GRIT being published by Shadowline is a dream come true for me,” Shadowline Editor Kristen Simon said. “I’ve been a fan of the web comic for many years now and was thrilled when we were able to bring it over to Shadowline’s website as well.  Publisher Jim Valentino enjoyed it so much he agreed we…

Review: Invincible #58

Now this is more like it I don’t know what happened in the second part of that two-part crossover issue that began in Invincible #57, and frankly, I don’t care.   What I do care about is the intricate universe Robert Kirkman has created in Invincible and the myriad of characters in it.  The latest issue returns readers to the good ol’ days of a young superhero and all the people in it.

Obama Fever in Comics Continues in Youngblood #8

If you thought guest appearances by President Barack Obama in comics were done, guess again.  Image Comics is getting into the act again as the President makes his first superhero-related initiative in Youngblood #8, written and illustrated by Rob Liefeld. “Obama re-instating the YOUNGBLOOD program with his picks is a natural, with SAVAGE DRAGON having featured Obama already,” Liefeld told Comic Book Resources.  “And with YOUNGBLOOD having featured George H. Bush in its past as well as a Saddam Hussein styled guy and YOUNGBLOOD featured alongside Dan Quayle in WILDC.A.Ts and Bill Clinton in SUPREME, Image has a long history…

Prove Your a Proof Freak and Win

I’m sure if I had left the headline as Prove Your a Freak and Win, we would have received a ton of very interesting entries.  Instead, this contents is put on by Image Comics to support its Proof title by Alex Grecian and Riley Rossmo. “Since issue number one, Riley and I have been blessed with a terrific fan base who often go out of their way with grassroots efforts to promote the series,” Grecian said. “The Prove You’re A PROOF Freak contest takes it one step further, by giving fans the chance to show off their fandom in a…
