Marvel Sneak Peek: Heroic Age: One Month to Live #1

Marvel sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of Heroic Age: One Month to Live #1 that arrives in stores September 01, 2010.

“From the moment we read the script and saw the first pencils, we knew we had a special book in Heroic Age: One Month To Live,” said David Gabriel, Marvel Senior Vice President of Sales & Circulation. “With so many major Marvel heroes guest-starring, this is the perfect book for current fans and new readers, which made it a natural to fit on the Marvel Comics app shortly after it hits stores.”

REVIEW: The Avengers #3

Or – “Umm…  Where IS That Webbing Coming From, Anyway?”

So far, we’ve seen the Avengers identify a threat, talk about the threat, prepare to face the threat, have one of their own destroy the machine that will allow them to address the threat.  What we have yet to see is THE THREAT.  Will this issue change that, or are we still on the six-issue slow burn to nowhere?

The Marvel Age comes to the iPad

Marvel has announced that Enter the Heroic Age and Young Allies #1 have both arrived on the Marvel Comics App available for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

“Both of these issues present readers with a look at some of our most acclaimed series in this bold new era for Marvel,” said David Gabriel, Marvel Senior Vice-President of Sales & Circulation. “Working with our retailer advisory committee, we believe introducing single issues of our acclaimed series to our Marvel Comics app users will encourage them to visit their local comic shops for the next chapters of these series. Whether you’re a long time fan or new to comics, there’s something here for everyone in the Heroic Age.”

Additionally, Nomad: Girl Without a World #1-4, Gravity #1-4, and Firestar #1 are also available today on through the App.

REVIEW: Secret Avengers #2

Or – “Moon Knights Of Cydonia…”

The Secret Avengers have only been together about seven minutes, and they already have a man down…  Can Commander Rogers and his Amazing Friends figure out the mystery before they all succumb to arcane alien powers?  (I dunno about you, but *I* always bet on the team with the Nova-Prime on it…)

Or – “Of Course, The Shield Came First…”

Continuing our Major Spoilers Star-Spangled Weekend™, and so far we’re running an average of 3 stars for the items reviewed from the big, dumb month of June 2010.  Another batch of comics (featuring the first star-spangled hero, as well as several former heads of state) is on the chopping block…  Will our average go waaay up, or waay DOWN?

Rapid-Fire Reviews: Independence Day Edition (Second Salvo)

Or – “And Seriously, Don’t Even Get Me Started On All The Buckys!”

Day two of the Major Spoilers Star-Spangled Weekend™, I’m freshly sunburnt from swimming, but still Ready, Willing and Able (Attorneys At Law?) to go over some of the high-points of last month’s comic book output.  The Justice League of America, all-American Tony Stark and the styling of verdant Lanterns and Hornets take center stage as our Rapid-Fire Reviews continue!

Rapid-Fire Reviews And The Howling Commandoes!

Or – “April Showers Bring May Flowers, But Mayflowers Only Bring Religious Dissidents…”

Man, it has been a LOOOONG month of May.  The comics industry seems intent on moving to $3.99 price points, The Eleventh Doctor got hit on, and Scarlett Johanssen looks great in skintight stretch fabrics.  In any case, since another month has come and gone, and it’s a three-day weekend for many in the United States we’ve got time to look at a couple dozen things that have come out in recent weeks, Rapid-Fire Style!
