Pittsburgh Comicon’12: Hermes Press sponsors event

Hermes Press, pop art book publisher of such classic comic strip and comic book reprints as Buck Rogers, The Phantom, Brenda Starr, and Dark Shadows is sponsoring the 2012 Pittsburgh Comicon, Western Pennsylvania’s premier venue for popular culture. Since Hermes Press is the region’s only comic book and strip publisher “it seemed perfect that we should sponsor this show,” observed publisher Daniel Herman. Herman continued that, “we’ve been publishing pop culture art books and classic comic book and strip reprints for over a decade and it just seemed to make sense for us to show everybody in our neck of the woods what we do.”

NYCC’11: Hermes Press to publish Smokey Stover

Hermes Press adds to their slate of classic comic strip reprint editions with Smokey Stover and Spooky the Cat. Comic strip and comic book historian extraordinaire Jerry Robinson described cartoonist Bill Holman (in the pages of The Comics) as “an outrageous punster and wordsmith,” and Holman’s wit is on display in the volume due out in 2012.

DIGITAL COMICS: Hermes Press signs with iVerse

Hermes Press has signed on with iVerse as a distributor for digital comic book sales, joining other publishers in making the transition to digital distribution. iVerse will not only sell Hermes’ original comics line, such as the upcoming graphic novel series Tails and the upcoming line of single issue comic books, but also reprint editions like Dark Shadows and Land of the Giants, as well as some of their comic strip reprint editions. A first for digital comics, iVerse will also be offering digital versions of Hermes Press’s successful comics art book line.
