Show Notes after the Jump!
If you loved Art Baltazar and Franco’s take on the Tiny Titans, you’re going to love Itty Bitty Hellboy.
Hellboy is one of the most loved and cherished comics being published and creator Mike Mignola will finally have his work collected and printed in an Artist’s Edition book from IDW.
Art Baltazar and Franco Aureliani have created quite a stir with their work on some of the most fun and ageless comics of all time. They won an Eisner for Tiny Titans, their treatment of DC Comics’ Teen Titans, and their recent Kickstarter campaign for their Aw Yeah Comics series surpassed its goal in record time.
Following up on a collaboration which spanned multiple series, leading up to Mike Mignola’s return to both writing and drawing his beloved demon, artist Duncan Fegredo returns to tell a story about a young Hellboy’s first brush with hell.
Mike Mignola has created a little empire around his Hellboy story continuity, and well-deserved, I would say. It really highlights the strengths of having a single writer/creator on the tiller for the whole run and the ability to keep a consistent vision. Occasionally, Mignola does allow others to play in his sandbox. Here he teams with occasional collaborator John Arcudi on the latter’s idea for a story set on the battlefields of WWII Europe. Is it a good, spooky story, or does it just further blur the line between Hellboy and Atomic Robo? Find out after the jump.
Mashup art is one of my favorite forms to come across on the Internet and today’s Art Appreciation Moment is just that as Cynthia Rodgers combines the worlds of Scooby-Doo and Hellboy.
At this year’s International Toy Fair, Dark Horse revealed what is sure to be one of the year’s most-talked-about toy releases! Hong Kong’s innovative designer-toy company Toy2R will produce a new range of 5” vinyl figures in their popular “Mini-Qee” format, putting their unique design spin on Mike Mignola’s popular Hellboy character.
Skelton Crew Studio has been quietly climbing to the top of my merchandise creator line. They’ve been knocking it out of the park with their Locke & Key replica line, and pre-orders for The Black Axe, from Mouse Guard, is now available, and as we slide into the end of the year, the company has announced a new line featuring props from Hellboy.
Just in the time for the holiday season, Hellboy has gone to hell! Mike Mignola writes and illustrates his new ongoing Hellboy series and does exactly what the title promises. Is there any hope for Big Red or will he succumb to his fiery doom? More after the jump!
As Hellboy prepares to go to Hell, Dark Horse Comics has released an interesting rundown of the top ten events in Hellboy’s life.
