NYCC’11: Krypto is dead

If you took a gander at Action Comics #2, you saw that Superman was shown a dessicated alien animal that looked it had been through at least one autopsy. While it didn’t hit me as something super important at the time, that dead animal could be Krypto. While we need to wait until issue #3 to see Krypto in his full glory, according to panelists at the New York Comic Con, Jor-El’s dog didn’t survive the journey to Earth.

NEW 52 DUELING REVIEW: Action Comics #1

Action Comics is one of the longest running superhero comics. That’s why DC decided to relaunch the series with a new number one this month in the hopes that the allure of a first issue will attract new readers. Matthew and Stephen took some time today to run down to their local stores (or in Stephen’s case – his comiXology account) to pick up copies for this review.

VIDEO: Morrison on Action Comics

Here’s a better video of Grant Morrison’s address to the attendees at the Hero Complex Film Festival that occurred this past weekend in Los Angeles.  Here, Morrison talks about Superman and what he wants to do with the series.

It’s interesting that Morrison says “join us on this ridiculous voyage into the unknown.”

Grant Morrison talks up Action Comics

During the Geoff Johns/Jim Lee panel at this past weekend’s Hero Complex Film Festival, Grant Morrison appeared on the big screen to talk Action Comics.  This is a fan captured video, so watch it while you can, and be prepared for a big giant head to take over your screen.

If you didn’t understand what was said, here is the official solicitation for Action Comics #1 as shared by DC Comics.

The one and only Grant Morrison (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN) returns to Superman, joined by sensational artist Rags Morales (IDENTITY CRISIS), to bring you tales of The Man of Steel unlike any you’ve ever read! This extra-sized debut issue is the cornerstone of the entire DC Universe!

DC RELAUNCH: History happens… NOW!

Action Comics is getting the relaunch, with Grant Morrison writing, and Rags Morales providing the art.  Also announced, Superman #1 with George Perez taking on the story, and Jesus Merino on art duties, Supergirl #1 by Michael Green and Mike Johnson, with Mahmud Asra on art, and Superboy #1 by Scott Lobdell with art by R.B. Silva and Rob Lean.

That’s 52 books.  Time for your comments.

DC RELAUNCH: Batman, Incorporated to return

DC Comics posted a message on The Source to reassure everyone that Batman, Incorporated would indeed return following the relaunch of the superhero line.  However, the current book will wrap with issue #10.

“Batman, Incorporated will continue through to Issue #10 and August’s shocking season finale that changes the Batman status quo yet again. The series will take a brief hiatus while I work on a major new project to be announced shortly. Batman, Incorporated returns next year with me, Chris Burnham and Batman: Leviathan, the epic 12 part conclusion to my 6 year Batman saga. Don’t miss it!” – Grant Morrison

Batman, Inc. will return in 2012 with a new number one, according to DC.
