Fun Panel of the Week
Bryan sent along another great panel from his old Captain America collection. Here is the painful attempt to make Captain America hip with the times. There he sits in a bar drinking SANGRIA with his buddies. What the *&@^!!! No wonder he wants to remain dead.
Yeah, you can tell I’m behind. Here’s your panel of the (last) week. The Last Supper of the JLA. As one commenter pointed out, the almighty Batman has a dickness level of around 7. Go ahead and play the game and see who is the betrayer, who is the disbeliever, and who isn’t pictured.
I’ve been reading through my copy of Showcase Presents: Legion of Super-Heroes, retelling the tales of the Silver Age of the LoSH. One thing that is really clear – those kids from the future think messing with your head makes for good times. For example, look at what the ladies really think of Jimmy Olsen Geez, it’s no wonder kids have self-image problems, and just goes to prove, never believe a girl from the future is in love with you, no matter the size of her behive.
They say newborns are able to see high contrast images quite well, so I decided to get my son started on comics by reading him DC Showcase Presents: Justice League of America Volume 1 (500 pages for only $19.00!). If you aren’t familiar with the Showcase Presents series, it is a cheap and easy way of educating yourself, and others, in the ways of the days before the first Crisis. Because they are inexpensive, the tales are printed on paper that is newsprint at best, and you are missing out on all the colors, but it is still fun to
It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded a Fun Panel of the Week entry, but hopefully I’ll keep better track of getting this stuff up (no pun intended in light of this week’s entry). This week’s entry: The Joker’s Boner. Hey, I’m not making this stuff up! bon·er (bō’nər) Informal A blunder or an error.
Damn if this doesn’t just sum up all the frustrations DC fans in terms of getting comic properties to the silver screen. If Marvel can do it so easily, why the heck can’t DC and Warner Bros. put their heads together and make movie magic?
Finally catching up on everything that needs to be handled around here, which brings me to the fabulous return of the Fun Panel of the Week. This week’s panel comes from Brave and the Bold #3. Hehe, he called Supergirl a nimrod.
Even better than a panel referencing a video game system from the 80s is dialogue from the same time. This week features Misty Knight kicking some shark butt. The only thing missing is some 70s Blaxspoitation phrase. Each time I see this panel, I keep wanting her to say “Shazam!” as she punches the Great White square on.
