Or – “It’s Wanton #&$*ing Cursing Weekend At Stately Spoilers #&$*ing Manor!”

Buck Rogers Returns

Dynamite Entertainment has announced it has made an agreement with the Dille Estate to bring Buck Rogers back to comics. Nick Barrucci, Publisher and President of Dynamite Entertainment, is very enthusiastic to be working on one of his “dream projects since childhood,” and to be working with Flint and his family legacy in that process. Barrucci proudly confirms that fan favorites, Alex Ross and John Cassaday, will be integral to Dynamite’s Buck launch, with both Alex and John providing character designs, Alex providing a cover to issue #1, and John serving as regular series cover artist starting with issue #1.…

Project Superpowers #1

Or – “The GREEEEEN…   LAAAMAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!” One of the great mysteries of the universe is the nature of “Public Domain.”  At one point, a couple of decades ago, the rumor went around the comics industry that the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents were in public domain, and we suddenly got four or five different takes on reviving the characters.  Most of the characters in this book are also being published sporadically by AC Comics in their Femforce series and related titles, and many of them were revived by DC/Wildstorm in Alan Moore’s Terra Obscura spinoff from Tom Strong.  If you’re a comic ephemera geek…

Zorro #1

Or – “Guy Williams Would Be Proud, I Should Think…” Strangely enough, as an adult comic book fan, I didn’t really get into them as a kid.  I have vague memories of my cousin Donnie’s Spectacular Spider-Man, Star Wars, and Shogun Warriors comics (indeed, Shogun Warriors #1 was the first comic I ever bought, though at the time it didn’t do much for me) having not gotten into comics until about age 11.  But I have vivid memories of my Grandmother’s hardcover collections of Disney stories, including one explaining the origins of Don Diego de la Vega, the mysterious caped avenger…

The Boys Headed to Big Screen

Variety is reporting this morning that Columbia Pictures has obtained the rights to Garth Ennis’ The Boys. Created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the contemporary-set comicbook series follows a CIA squad, known informally as “the boys,” whose job is to keep watch on the proliferation of superheroes and, if necessary, intimidate or eliminate them. I say this is good news for Dynamite Entertainment, but got to be a big sore spot for DC who tried to kill the title due to its graphic nature and content. via Variety
