DVD: Adventure Time: The Complete Second Season arrives in June

Cartoon Network announced today the first – and second – Blu-ray™ release for its hit comedy series, Adventure Time, as the company will bring the first two seasons of the Emmy® Award-nominated animated series to Blu-ray on June 4. Adventure Time: The Complete Second Season will debut on both DVD and Blu-ray, complete with absolutely algebraic bonus content created by series creator Pendleton Ward, including a featurette filmed by Ward that provides exclusive access to and interviews with members of his talented show team, as well as episode commentaries for all 26 season two episodes from Ward and the Adventure Time team. Also that same day, Cartoon Network will release Adventure Time: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray, bringing that fan-favorite home video release to the high-definition market with stunning HD-quality audio and video. Both season one and season two Blu-ray titles will also include a free Ultraviolet HD digital copy for each episode. Both Adventure Time: The Complete First Season and Adventure Time: The Complete Second Season Blu-ray releases will be available for the suggested retail price of $32.07, while the two-disc season two DVD will be priced at $26.95.

Shout! Factory, in collaboration with FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment, will release The Aquabats! Super Show! Season One! on DVD on May 21 for a suggested retail price of $19.93. All 13 Season One episodes of wacky crime-fighting, music videos and outlandish villains are included in the 2-Disc deluxe collection, along with a ton of bonus features. Special guests on the show include “Weird Al” Yankovic, Lou Diamond Phillips (Southland), Samm Levine (Freaks & Geeks), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and more.

Dubbed as the King of Indie Animation, Bill Plympton is a true innovator. “Bill has an impossible ability to carelessly marry the absurd with the profound,” says actor and “Robot Chicken” creator Seth Green. Internationally recognized for his outrageous and sometimes grotesque style, his distorted characters with bizarre metamorphic transitions combined with loads of adult humor. Plympton still uses the pain-staking process of drawing each of his films by hand, frame by frame with colored pencils. With six animated feature length films under his belt, the only artist to ever conquer that feat, the world of animation would not be the same without the creative mind of Bill Plympton. On September 25, 2012, Cinema Libre Studio will release on DVD and VOD platforms, ADVENTURES IN PLYMPTOONS!, a wild ride with the cult animator and his friends.

MOVIES: Raiders of the Lost Ark headed to IMAX

There were two times in my life I got to see Raiders of the Lost Ark on the big screen; the first was when it was originally released in a smallish theater in Ottawa, KS.  The second time was in Atlanta, GA some 15 years later at the magnificent Fox Pavilion.  Both times were magical, and seeing the adventures of one of my favorite characters in what has to be one of my all time favorite movies is always a thrill. So you can imagine how excited I am to hear that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are bring Raiders of the Lost Ark to IMAX for a one week run beginning September 7, 2012.

DVD: Princess Bride 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray
