In his first quarter 2010 presentation, Walt Disney Company President and CEO Bob Iger commented that Cars 2 will be pushed to December 2011 instead of the originally planned June 24, 2011 release.  There could be any number of reasons for the move, including the already crowded summer movie release schedule that has Green Lantern being released a week prior and Transformers 3, which is still looking for an open summer slot.  The other reason might be that Disney and Pixar need to retool the financially successful merchandising film to adhere more to the company tradition of releasing stellar movies.…

Here’s the first official concept art from Cars 2.  Looks like it will be set in Japan, which could be really cool, especially if Lightning McQueen needs to learn to drift in order to win. Since my 2 year old discovered Cars, we’ve had to watch the movie non-stop.  I’m not sure I want to sit through 234 showings of the new movie when it comes out in the summer of 2011. via Spoiler TV

Of all the Disney animated movies, the one that stands out as the one with the most fantastic artistic design is Sleeping Beauty.  Maleficent is the most evil of the evil Disney characters, and Sideshow Collectibles has turned her wicked visage into a 22-inch high statue that is scheduled to be released in the third quarter of 2010. Bryan Cranston has joined the cast of John Carter of Mars. The Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle star will play a Civil War colonel who has a kerfuffle with Carter – presumably on Earth before Carter is zapped away to Mars.  At least I hope that is the case.  Lord help us if TWO Earthlings land on Mars, thus altering the Edgar Rice Burroghs story.  The good thing is Andrew Stanton is directing, and he should keep everything in line with the original. via THR
