Diamond Comic Distributors sent Major Spoilers its breakdown of comics sold for the month of August 2009. As expected Marvel took the number one spot on the Market Share list, grabbing 43.86% of the unit share, compared to DC’s 36.04%.  While that may seem like a huge gab between the first and second place publishers, the Dollar Share is closer at 39.70% and 33.18%. Diamond Comic Distributors have announced that seven of the limited comic and toy exclusives being released at the San Diego Comic-Con have sold out to the retailers on the show floor. “SDCC exhibiting retailers were quick to purchase these one-of-a-kind collectibles, and now we’re sold out,” said Dan Manser, Diamond’s Director of Marketing. “If customers and fans really want these items they’re going to have to race to one of the selected retailers on the show floor to purchase them.”

The top comics for June 2009 have been released, and it’s nice to see Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s Batman and Robin #1 hit the top spot for the month. Marvel Comics took the top publisher spot in June, leading both Unit Market and Dollar Shares, with a 50.91% Unit Market Share and a 45.09% Dollar Share for the month.
