In August, the direct comic book market saw a huge drop in sales, with no single book breaking the 100,000 mark.  The good news is September did break the 100,000 benchmark, the bad news it was only one comic… and Wolverine at that.  Brightest Day #9 and #10 followed close behind, but the index difference between the two have each issue selling around 85,000 copies each.  DC and Marvel split the top ten equally, though DC did triumph in the Top 5 Comics with four titles.  Still, those titles had to go up against Wolverine… The range in the number…

It is something that has been whispered and talked about for a while, and it looks like comics are going to arrive to retailers on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. That’s the consensus reached at the retailer summit held by Diamond at the Baltimore Comic-Con. Now before you freak out, realize that New Comic Tuesday is the day retailers will receive their shipment for Wednesday sale. By now you know the routine, Marvel Comics takes the top spot, DC Comics lands at number two. The real fun begins with Dark Horse once moving in at number three, followed by Image Comics, IDW PUblishing, Dynamite Entertainment, and Boom! Studios. The Overstreet Price Guide is turning 40, and to celebrate, the Guide’s founder, Robert M. Overstreet will be a special guest at the San Diego Comic-Con next week. The company will also sign copies at the show, and offer a special edition to support The Heor Initiative.

Playmates Toys announced they will show off the Michael Jackson Collectibles line at the San Diego Comic-Con.  The deal signed with Bravado, allows the company to bring Jackson’s likeness to the company toy line. “We are delighted to expand our successful line of Michael Jackson collectible memorabilia by working with the innovative team at Playmates Toys,” stated Tom Bennett, Chief Executive Officer of Bravado. “This new line truly celebrates Michael’s unmistakable style and irreplaceable talent. Not too long ago, Devil’s Due went through different distribution methods when its Hack/Slash Reanimator book was rejected by Diamond.  Yesterday, Devil’s Due announced it is leaving Diamond and distributing all of its comics through other means including Haven Comic Distributors, which has slowly been snagging distribution deals with other companies. “For almost over a year Devil’s Due has been in an unwinnable situation wherein Diamond garnishes our revenues to pay back returns and fees it claims are owed from 2008 and 2009, making it impossible for us to keep up with payments to talent, printers, and other expenses while…
