Top 100 Trade Paperbacks for July 2008

Following the release of the Watchmen trailer, the Watchmen trade by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons shot to the top of the charts, prompting DC to go back to press with 900,000 new copies flooding the market to meet the demand of readers.  So, it’s no suprise to see Watchmen top the list of 100 trade paperbacks sold through Diamond Comic Distributors for July 2008. Top 300 Comics for July 2008

Diamond Comic Distributors has sent Major Spoilers the breakdown of comic book sales for July 2008.  Marvel dominated the month taking seven of the top 10 spots on the list.  DC only had two showings with Batman #678, the Grant Morrison’s R.I.P. storyline, and Justice League of America #23, while Buffy the Vampire Slayer from Dark Horse rounded out the top ten. Top 300 Comics for June 2008

Diamond Comic Distributors has sent Major Spoilers the breakdown of comic book sales for June 2008.  Leading the month once again is Marvel with a 48.39% Unit Share, with DC coming in second place with a mere 29.56%.  From there the numbers drop to the “smaller” publishers with Dark Horse coming in again in the third slot. Diamond Nabs Two Deals

Diamond Book Distributors has announced two distribution deals.  The first is with Miami Book Fair International to help promote the Fair’s upcoming graphic novel event that runs from November 9-16 at the Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus. This year’s Book Fair will bring a new feature for fair goers as graphic novel creators and comics artists take up residence on fair grounds.  The graphic novel format, which has seen a recent explosion in sales in North America, has its roots firmly planted in comics history. Top 300 Titles for May 2008

Diamond Comic Distributors has sent Major Spoilers the sales data for titles shipping in May of 2008.  The month broke down with Marvel once again taking the top spot with Secret Invasion #2 outselling DC’s first issue of Grant Morrison’s Final Crisis (ouch). Marvel took seven of the top 10 spots, with DC claiming 3 – all Grant Morrison titles, with two Batman RIP issues.  Dark Horse’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer made an appearance at number 15, the only non Marvel or DC title to crack the top 20.
