REVIEW: Fearless Defenders #3

Or – “An Interesting Start For A New Book…”

A couple of years ago, Marvel put out a book called “Girl Comics,” which featured some of their most recognizable female characters put together by female creators.  While it was a step in the right direction, there were some great flaws in the execution.  This book, while still featuring mostly male creators, features three of Marvel’s most interesting female charactors working together.  Will this issue impress as much as the previous two?  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: Fearless Defenders #2

Marvel has once again launched a Defenders title, now named Fearless Defenders. The first issue was quite enjoyable, introducing Misty Knight and Valkyrie. A new female protagonist is introduced this issue, Dani Moonstar. Does it come together as well as the first? Major Spoilers takes a look!

The last few years at Marvel have been full of interesting takes on heroes, albeit some that just aren’t viable in the long-term.  The repeated attempts to revamp Heroes For Hire have established Misty Knight as a badass on a par with her on-again/off-again boy-toy Iron Fist, while the Valkyrie has once again been in the spotlight due to the events of ‘The Fearless.’  Can a girl from New York and a girl from Valhalla make it together in the Marvel Universe?  And will we get more Colleen Wing?  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: The Defenders #1

“Or – “Marvel’s Most Maligned (Non) Team Title…’

It always puzzles me why some folks seem to have a problem with The Defenders as a concept.  “They’re not team players,” I have been told, and indeed, that was part of the POINT of the original four Defenders aligning.  Many great and potentially great characters were Defenders, and the book ran for over a decade during times when folks like Green Arrow and the X-Men weren’t considered viable solo characters.  Honestly, I blame it all on ‘Secret Defenders,’ which is to the original Defenders title what Zero Hour was the the Justice Society of America.  (What rhymes with “Huge Slap In The Face?”)  Now, the Defenders are back together to handle a debt owed to an old friend…
