Reversal of powers, reality altering hijinks of imps from the fifth dimension, and the return of Supergirl are just some of the tales found inside the pages of Superman/Batman, the follow up series to the long running and highly popular World’s Finest.  The 80’s are long over, but the continuing adventures of DC’s BFFs need to be told.  And this time, we find out who really is the bigger man.

Or -  “The New Order Ariseth…  FINALLY.” So, here it is.  For a few months now, I’ve been complaining about a seeming lack of momentum in the Teen Titans regular series.  We are finally at the point where we’re setting up for the new team to leap out and start kicking some but, and looking at that splash, I’m realizing one important thing:  Half of the characters on this cover either originated in or are derived from characters who originated in non-DC comics. *  That’s pretty interesting…  Also, Aquagirl is really attractive.

First Day on the Job Look! Up in the sky!  Is it a bird? Nooooo. Is it a plane? Nooooo. Is it Superman? Noooo. That’s usually how the conversation with my two year old goes when we’re goofing around on the way to school in the morning.  That also appears to be the conversation the citizens of Metropolis are having as there’s a new hero in town buzzing the skies above the city.

Or – “When Editors Run The Roost…” Ever since the first issue of Final Crisis, DC has been abuzz with plans for the character that they obviously consider to be the original Flash, Barry Allen, indicating that he has a greater role in the world than anyone would ever have thought.  Having read Barry’s original series back in the day (I have a complete run from issue 175 to the end, and scattered issues before that, including a tattered copy of #123 with no cover) I can tell you this: I found him more interesting as Saint Barry, patron of fallen guys…

Hot dang!  Saw these today over at the Matty Collector FaceBook page, and I’m burning with jealousy over the exclusive figures Mattel will feature at San Diego Comic Con 2009.  Granted, today is April 1, 2009, but we’ve seen some of these figures already appear during the New York Comic Con, so it’s a safe bet at least most of these figures are legit.

Oscar nominees Michael Shannon and Will Arnett have both signed up to appear in Warner Bros. adaptation of DC Comics’ Jonah Hex big screen feature. Arnett will play a Union soldier who enlists Hex and is blindsided by the dirty fighting style of his enemies. The role is not inherently comic. Shannon plays Doc Cross Williams, the bizarre ringleader of a brutal gladiator circus event. The character might appear in sequels. Sequels already?  I know studios plan for three movie deals when starting any new property, but in recent years, the western has not been a big box office draw. …

Or – “Something Is Rotten In The State Of Denmark Themiscyra…” My first impression of the Olympian?  His helmet looksl like Peacemaker’s.  I wonder if it’s filled with plastic explosive?

From comic to feature film to animated short story, screenwriter Alex Tse has played an essential role in helping transition WATCHMEN beyond its initial incarnation. Ironically, when it came to bringing the graphic novel’s classic story-within-a-story, WATCHMEN: TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER, Tse wrote the screenplay without knowing what that final incarnation would be.

Or – “Breakdowns II: Electric Boogaloo.” – MAJOR SPOILERS EXCLUSIVE: The Missing Dialogue From This Issue’s Cover – Bruce:  “So…  I’m dead now, y’know.” Diana:  “We heard.  I blame that Frank Miller person.” Bruce:  “Yeah… I’m the $&#damn Deadman doesn’t have the same sort of ‘ooomph’ to it.” Diana:  “Don’t let Boston hear you say that.  I irritated him once, and ended up dancing topless to “Three Little Maids from School” in a Turkish bathhouse called ‘The Magik Lasso.’ ” Clark:  “Y’know, I was dead for a while…  Editorial went nuts trying to hide it.  So, how many guys they got swanning…

One of the faithful Major Spoiler Legion sent me an email the other day, and I sat on it until someone else broke the story, because frankly, I don’t need another C&D.  Tony Daniel posted on his blog (and then deleted) some sketches of his Batman and Robin designs. While the designs are nothing spectacular, the notes scribbled on the page are, as Daniel reveals who “wins” the Battle for the Cowl.  The reveal isn’t much of a surprise to those who can put two and two together, but if you really want to know, take the jump to read…

Or – “You Down Wit’ RGB?  Yeah, You Know Me!” Lasst issue, we were given a huge cliffhanger, as Green Lantern of Earth Hal Jordan was taken over by the power of the Red Lanterns.  Will the quintessential soldier of the Guardians of Oa switch sides?  Will he escape the power of rage and make it back to the center of the spectrum?  Or, alternately, couldn’t he use both rings to be the Festive Holiday Lantern?
