Press Release

Michael Rosenbaum will reprise his role as Lex Luthor in the series finale of SMALLVILLE on Friday, May 13 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)

“I’m delighted to return for the series finale,” says Rosenbaum. “I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made SMALLVILLE the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness and even their threats. Ha ha. I can’t wait to hug the old crew back in Vancouver one last time and see all of my old friends once again. Oh, and for Lex to become the badass he’s destined to be.”

TELEVISION: Smallville wraps with two-hour finale

With Smallville wrapping up its ten year run on the CW, the show is going out with a two-hour finale, on May 13, 2011.

“Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show,” said executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders.  “We’re excited to be able to make the final moments of SMALLVILLE a television event, as the character we’ve grown up with makes his legendary transformation.”

Taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons, this two-hour event will send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world’s greatest protector.

I still need to catch up on about two years worth of episodes, but some of the shows I’ve seen recently have been pretty good.

TELEVISION: Booster Gold and Blue Beetle cast in Smallville

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Eric Martsolf (Days of Our Lives) has been hired to play Booster Gold in an upcoming episode of Smallville titled “Booster”.  Joining the hero from the future will be Jaren Brandt Bartlett as Jaime Reyes, the Blue Beetle. Add to this news the rumor that Ted Kord will make an appearance in the episode as well.   Geoff Johns, who is writing the episode, says Kord will be played by Sebastian Spence.

It’s really too bad, Warner Bros., DC, and the CW waited until the final two season to start rolling out other DC characters.  Had they done this eight years ago, we might already have a Justice League movie in theaters.

Raven to follow Smallville?

With Smallville wrapping up soon, The CW and Warner Bros. are looking for something (anything) to fill the slot left by the tweaked Superman series.  The Teen Titans might be a great team concept to look to, but according to Variety, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. TV, and The CW might be breaking up the team to focus on one – Raven.

“Raven” actually has some history at the CW: The character was featured in the animated Kids’ WB series “Teen Titans,” which ran for several years (including Kids’ WB’s brief run as the CW’s Saturday morning kids block). Tara Strong voiced Raven in the series, which also featured Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy and Cyborg.

With the mystical nature of the character (created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez), and the success of Supernatural, the combo of superheroine adventure taking on supernatural forces could be a slam dunk for the network.  Of course it could also turn into another Birds of Prey…

Smallville Sneak Peek: Harvest

A very Halloween-centric Smallville is headed our way this week, and the CW has released a teaser for the episode.

Clark (Tom Welling) is concerned about Lois’ (Erica Durance) safety so he diverts her away from covering the Vigilante Registrations Act by suggesting she cover another story. After he comes clean with her, an angry Lois tells him that she can take care of herself, but when a flat tire strands their car in the middle of nowhere, their plans take a turn for the worse and Lois ends up in serious danger. Meanwhile, Tess (Cassidy Freeman) searches for a cure for Alexander (guest star Connor Stanhope), who is rapidly aging. Christopher Petry directed the episode written by Al Septian & Turi Meyer.
