SDCC ’09: The Julian Challenge – Thursday Diary

Editor’s Note:  The following is from the diary of Major Spoilers’ Number One Fan, Julian, as he adventures forth in an attempt to win the Major Spoilers’ Julian Challenge.

As I write this, it is currently Thursday 9 PM, I just got back from a full day of walking and signatures at the 40th Anniversary from the San Diego Comic-Con, and I am absolutely BEAT.

Seriously, every year I go to this big time comic book and entertainment bash, and every year I’m shocked at how dead tired I am.  But I will soldier on, for you, the Major Spoilers Readers that want this Poster Project to happen!

SDCC’09: Julian Challenge Update

Julian was hyping Major Spoilers all last year as he got pictures snapped with the likes of Mark Millar

Julian was hyping Major Spoilers all last year as he got pictures snapped with the likes of Mark Millar

We were hoping to have a couple of articles from Julian on the status of the Julian Challenge at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.  Apparently, the WiFi at the convention center is spotty at best, causing The Major Spoilers #1 Fan to resort to Twitter for his updates.

Here’s what we know so far…

  • Julian is up to 33 signatures on the Major Spoilers poster including
    • Dave Garcia
    • Sean Galloway
    • Ryan Benjamin
    • Edwin Beaver
    • The Apple Geeks Guys
    • Lenil Yu
    • Robert Langridge
    • Bryan Lee O’malley
    • Adam West

Julian did relay that he would have an update before the weekend is out, so look for that on the site soon.  Will he make it?  Signs point to YES!

Just a reminder, if Julian wins the Challenge, he gets to turn that poster in for a most awesome Hellboy Animated Statue.  That’s how we roll with our biggest fans.  Want to be our biggest fan?  It’s pretty easy to do…

SDCC’09: Going to the con? Share your pics

For any Major Spoilerite going to the San Diego Comic Con – We Want Your Pictures!

If you take a lot of pictures and want to share them with the rest of the world, drop me a line, and we’ll get your pics up on the site.  I’m most interested in cosplay pictures (good and bad, all shapes, and sizes), booth pictures, and celebrities.  Who knows, maybe the best photographer who sends us a heap of pictures each day will win a prize or something.

Those of you who are planning to dress up as your favorite Marvel character and you’re heading to San Diego Comic-Con, you might want to enter the Marvel Costume Contest.

If you have the heroic (or villainous) qualities to participate in this exciting contest, make sure to be at the Marvel Booth (#2429) by 3:30 PM to register! All you need to do is wear a costume of your favorite Marvel character (but keep it family friendly!) and you could win the Grand Prize of a Marvel Omnibus signed by Stan Lee! All entrants may also be featured in a gallery on Marvel.Com! The winner will be determined by you, the fans, as you vote on who you want to be crowned this year’s winner!

The event takes place on Friday July 24, at 4:00 PM.

SDCC’09: You can be in an Archie Comic

Those attending the San Diego Comic-Con next week can enter for a chance to be drawn in an upcoming issue of Archie Comics.

Archie Comics will be giving away a Grand Prize at the San Diego Comic Con with one lucky winner appearing in a future Archie Comic, drawn by a famous Archie comic book artist! Names will be collected during the “Archie Comics: Archie Marries Veronica Panel” on Thursday July 23rd, 11:30-12:30 in Room 4. New Archie Comics co-CEO Jon Goldwater will pick the winner at the end of the panel. That person will be photographed to have their likeness included in a story where they get to meet Archie and his pals ‘n’ gals!

Considering this panel takes place at the same time as the Disney 3D, Middleman, and World of Warcraft panels, there’s probably a pretty good chance of winning.  I wonder if Julian will try to win, wearing a Major Spoilers T-shirt?
