Courtney Crumrin and The Damned Head for the Screen

Word out of San Diego last night was the Oni Press titles Courtney Crumrin and The Damned have both been acquired by Dreamworks Pictures to be turned into movies. Lisa Gitter, Steven V. Scavelli and Joe Nozemack will co-produce the two projects for DreamWorks, while Peter Schwerin will exec produce. Alisa Tager brought in the projects to shingle Parkes/MacDonald, which is based at DreamWorks.

UPDATED: Heroes Gets Hardcover Treatment

DC Comics has acquired the rights to take the online Heroes comics, that gave readers a deeper glimpse into the characters from the hit NBC series, and collect them in a hardcover collection. I’ve already downloaded the 43 Adobe PDF files from the Heroes website, and these are pretty good reads. But because these are online, graphic heavy, and you have to remember to go to the website each week to get the latest installment, I think a bound edition of the issues is a great idea. Tim Sale Everywhere at San Diego

With the success of Heroes, and his work on Spider-Man, Batman, Superman and other comic heroes, Tim Sale is going to be a pretty busy guy at this year’s comic-con. Active Images let us know he will primarily be at his table at the Naked Fat Rave (booth #4601), selling a brand new “Blue” Sketchbook and a color “Jungle Girl” print, t-shirts and more. Cast for Watchmen Announced

The cast for the Watchmen movie has been announced. Some of the names may be familiar to some and surprises to others. Atlantis Studios Announces Con Schedule

Atlantis Studios has announced its schedule of appearances and signings for the San Diego Comic-con taking place this week. Freshmen II Gets Collected for Con

Top Cow has announced Seth Green will appear at the San Diego Comic-Con promoting the Freshmen II Fundamentals of Fear Trade paperback. There attendees will also be able to get an exclusive Freese College Beavers t-shirt and mini-lithograph. While the t-shirt my be an exclusive to the con, a variation of it has been solicited for October.
