Matthew and I have pondered just how the world of Cars works. Thanks to Jake Parker we now know what the insides of Mater, and Lightning McQueen look like… and it isn’t pretty in a pretty sort of way.

MOVIES: Disney announces Planes (again)
Back in February, we learned that Planes would be the first spin-off from the popular Cars series. Today, Disney and Pixar announced the release date for the direct to Blu-Ray and DVD movie at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, and sent along a trailer as well as casting announcements.
TALK BACK: Cars 2
While it was not expected to be a very popular movie, Cars has become one of the most financially successful Disney/Pixar movies, prompting the company to produce a sequel that feels a lot like A Man Called Flintstone.
Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race. But the road to the championship becomes rocky as Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.

“Cars 2” is the 12th feature-length animated film from Pixar Animation Studios (its first 11 have earned $6.5 billion at the global box office). Pixar, which has earned 29 Academy Awards® and seven Golden Globes®, celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2011.
