Or – “Sigh… Faaaaith. Mi Querida, Mi Amor… What Do You Mean ‘Restraining Order’?”
An episode of ‘Friends’ some years ago supposed the existence of “The List,” a grouping of five celebrities/public figures whom you would be allowed to have a dalliance with, regardless of what your significant other had to say about the situation. My list of five would so very much include Eliza “Faith” Dushku, presuming that she would have any interest in a 40ish comic nerd, and thus this issue holds special meaning for me, like the first time you hear the Beatles…Â
Or – “Last Survivor Of The Nerdly Trio…”

Though the television series adventures of Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended some time ago, the comic book continuation of all things Buffy-like chugs along apace. We’ve seen the lives of characters major and minor, from Slayers to exes to vampire airheads, as all the while one of my favorite characters toils in secrecy. The only man to ever outgeek Xander Harris, he somehow managed to make both Spike and Angel feel like out-of-touch losers…  But what has the “Lost Season” of Buffy got in store for Andrew?
A vampire kitty? Swell.

The vampires have taken over – turn on the television, and they’re all over HBO, go to the theater, and Twilight is the flick all the girls are going ga-gag for. These vamps pale (no pun intended) to the franchise that made kicking vampire butt fun, but unfortunately in the Buffy-verse the vampires have become just as popular as they have in our world.

Dark Horse kicks off this month’s solicitation rush by sending Major Spoilers the cover images and solicitation information for titles arriving in May 2009. A new Aliens series, the always awesome Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and a plethora of Star Wars comics await within.
Reality Shows Bite and Suck

Often times a television show will have an entire episode that only features cameo appearances by the lead cast members. This is done for contractual reasons, pregnancy issues, and too many other nit-picky reasons to get into. Those lesser-cast member shows often are throw away nothings, but in Buffy the Vampire Slayer #21, Jane Espenson is able to spin a most awesome tale that pokes fun at reality television and kills Andy Dick in the process.

Dark Horse Comics has sent Major Spoilers the cover images and solicitation information for titles arriving in April 2009. Yup, there’s a Buffy title in the list that is sure to sell well for the company.
Or – “Time, See What’s Become Of Me…”

I think the best part of Buffy (like any really good tapestry/universe story) is that the characters are allowed to change and grow, often in ways that you wouldn’t have imagined upon first viewing. I found myself watching the Buffy pilot not that long ago, and was very impressed with how naturally the characters’ stories seemed to be, even when the source material was anything but natural. Some time ago, Joss Whedon had pitched a Buffy cartoon series that would tell stories from the character’s past, with the addition of little sister Dawn, a later retcon to the show. The series never came to fruition, but, in comics, no story goes unused.
Or – “Days of Future Tense…”

Evil Willow in the future! Slayer versus Slayer! Buffy in a minidress!
Need we say more?

Or – “Didn’t I Just DO One Of These?”

I can’t tell if it’s a function of my tendency to be at least a week behind in my reviews (with my current schedules, I don’t usually buy my comics until Sunday afternoon, when I’m working) but it seems like I’ve been reviewing a lot of Buffy lately. The good news is, it’s hardly a chore, as the book is humming like a well-oiled humming-thing-covered-in-oil, giving us drama, intrigue, some nice dialogue, and not skimping on the ol’ fighty-fighty, something that many comic books lately are eschewing in favor of all-singing, all-dancing, green-skinned alien flashbacks. (No, I don’t mean “Betty and Veronica.”) The story of Buffy going back to the future has lit a new flame under the leader of the Slayers, as she’s forced to come face-to-face with her own legacy, and see the real impact she will have had on the world… As with any reality check, the slap in the face is complimentary with the service.

As much as I love Charisma Carpenter, you’d never find me following her around, peeking in her windows, or other stalker activities (or at least none that would get me caught), but now, with the announcement of 20th Century Fox and The Multiverse Networks Buffy the Vampire Slayer Massively Multiplayer Online game, stalking Your Favorite Buffy Fem just got easier.
The ground-breaking MMOG will offer a new experience for gamers, allowing them to play it either as a fully immersive 3D environment or as a Flash-based 2D game, where both types of players can interact. The game will be launched within “Multiverse Places,” a new social virtual world from Multiverse. Currently under development, “Buffy” will go into “beta” testing later this year.
Sadly, with this announcement comes the news that the Firefly MMO is now delayed.
