Review: Hexed #4

When you’ve only got four issues to tell a complete story, some things are going to be left out or cut short due to space restrictions.  In Hexed #4, just enough information gets through to make this concluding chapter just rewarding enough.

Advanced Review: The Remnant #4

For months some of steered clear of the Stephen Baldwin mini-series The Remnant for fear it would be full of proselytizing in attempt to push a particular religious point of view.   I’m pretty leery when it comes to these kinds of stories, but those that hint at the end of days can be an interesting read if the reader approaches the story from the essential good versus evil theme, and not one that pushes dogma.  For three issues, David Sacker has been caught up in a mystery of those that want to do him harm, and those that are trying…

Advanced Review: Irredeemable #1

We’ve seen Mark Waid write the hero as bad guy before.  His take on heroes as villains in Kingdom Come shows the hero stepping over the bounds as a revolt against their older counterparts, and trying to figure their place in a changing world.  And while there are others who have written openly violent tales of the good guy doing bad things, no one has ever stopped to ponder the question, “What made this person evil?”   In the case of Irredeemable, Waid dives into the answer and brings readers along for the ride down that dark path.
