On the Next Major Spoilers Podcast: Aphrodite IX

This week, on the Major Spoilers Podcast, the crew returns to discuss all things comic book related, and dive into Top Cow’s Aphrodite IX trade paperback.

Aphrodite IX Trade Paperback collects issues #1-4 of the series of the same name as well as the hard to find issue #0 plus incredible bonus art by Marc Silvestri (Civil War: The Initiative, Hunter-Killer), Joe Benitez (Supergirl), and Michael Turner (Superman/Batman, Ultimate Wolverine). Aphrodite IX is the perfect weapon, only she doesn’t know it. She’s programmed to kill and then erases all memory of her mission and her former life, like a reset button was hit in her mind. Now the ideal assassin wants to know who programmed her and she won’t stop until she finds out!

Aphrodite IX Pulled from Pilot Season

AphroditePS_1_picon.jpg

Of all of the Pilot Season titles being released from Top Cow, Aphrodite IX is being pulled by the publisher.

“The decision to cancel Aphrodite IX Pilot Season was a tough one,” explained Matt Hawkins, President of Top Cow, “The issue wasn’t coming together in a way that would work for Pilot Season. We didn’t want to risk delaying the voting process for Pilot Season or releasing a pilot issue we weren’t completely happy with, so the responsible thing to do was to remove it from the promotion. Fans haven’t seen the last of Aphrodite IX though.”

Pilot Season will continue with five titles; Ripclaw, Cyblade, Velocity, The Necromancer, and The Angelus.

I’m happy Top Cow isn’t giving up on Aphrodite IX, and I hope we do get to see the full issue next year.

In the mean time, check out the full color cover (not previously released) to the issue that almost was.

Aphrodite IX Trade Paperback Returns

aphro_picon.jpg

Long a fan of the IX I am, but darned if I am not missing one issue out of my collection, and the trade paperback has been out of print for some time too.

While I won’t be able to get my hands on the missing issue any time soon, I will be able to get a copy of the Aphrodite IX Trade Paperback that is being reissued with an all new covers by David Finch.

The trade will collect issues 1-4 and the hard to find issue #0 (believe me, I’ve tried).

The full cover image and more after the jump.
