TELEVISION: Marvel unveils Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

The popular Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD will expand with more action, adventure and humor with the debut of two new animated series “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble,” which continues the exciting adventures of Marvel’s most popular super heroes – Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow and newcomer Falcon, and “Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.,” which features the incredible Hulk, She-Hulk, Red Hulk, A-Bomb and Skaar; it was announced today by David Levine, Vice President and General Manager, Disney XD Worldwide and Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President & Head of Television, Marvel Entertainment. Kicking off the marvelous summer programming is a special one-hour preview of “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble” on SUNDAY, MAY 26, followed by the series premiere on SUNDAY, JULY 7. “Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents S.M.A.S.H.” premieres SUNDAY, AUGUST 11 (all at 11:00 a.m., ET/PT) on Marvel Universe on Disney XD.

TELEVISION: Eden Sher to lend voice to Star and the Forces of Evil

Disney Channel has ordered “Star and the Forces of Evil” (working title), an animated comedy adventure about a fun-loving magical teen princess from another dimension who — after a few bold skirmishes with other-worldly monsters — is sent by her Royal Parents to live with the Diaz family on Earth. Eden Sher (ABC’s “The Middle”) provides the voice of the lead character, Star Butterfly. Production has begun for a scheduled Fall 2014 premiere. The announcement was made today by Eric Coleman, Senior Vice President, Original Series, Disney Television Animation.

Dane Cook has been tapped to voice the lead character Dusty, a plane with high hopes in “Disney’s Planes.” Inspired by the world of “Cars” and directed by Disneytoon Studios veteran and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall (“King of the Hill,” “The Simpsons”), “Disney’s Planes” is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure about Dusty’s dream of competing as a high-flying air racer—and his decidedly unfortunate fear of heights.
