Gregg Hurwitz, bestselling novelist and writer of Penguin: Pain and Prejudice, has taken over the writing on The Dark Knight starting with issue #10 (reviewed by Major Spoilers here). Major Spoilers’ very own Jimmy had a chance to speak with Mr. Hurwitz this past week, and got some solid information about his creative process with artist David Finch, and a pretty firm hint as to plans for the next villain after Scarecrow to get “The Hurwitz Treatment”
All good things must come to an end, and that includes Mark Waid’s fantastic titles Irredeemable and Incorruptible. Whereas Irredeemable’s end seemed a natural progression, Incorruptible has been somewhat rushed and chaotic. Can Mark Waid bring it all together in this finale? My first comic book convention ever was going to C2E2 last year, and during that trip I spent a lot of time hanging around Gail Simone’s table and chatting with her and her husband, Scott. Coming back to the convention this year as a reporter for Major Spoilers, I was hoping to find some time to interview Gail, especially given how much I enjoy her work in comics. Gail is ALWAYS busy at conventions, considering how passionate a fanbase she has, but I was able to sit down with her for a brief interview.
Chris Burnham arrived early to the panel and was working on a commissioned Deathstroke which he was inking as I took my seat. As he worked on it fellow artist-panelists Kevin Maguire and David Finch arrived. Unlike the other DC panels I attended, this was very casual and unregulated, with questions from the audience being shouted out informally rather than waiting for Ian Sattler to arrive with a microphone. The panel was moderated by Mark Chiarello who asked some great questions of the creators to elicit educational and entertaining responses.
