So, I saw a movie last night where the casting was SO INSANELY PERFECT that to explain it would actually ruin one of the best plot twists in recent movie history.  My entire family was impressed, and my child even yelled their strongest praise (it involves curse-words) when the character first came on-screen.  I remember people insisting that Hugh Jackman was a perfect Wolverine (even though he’s a full foot too tall, in my eyes) and I remember agreeing that Christian Bale was the Platonic Ideal of Patrick Bateman, but nobody can beat Anjelica Huston are Morticia Addams, leading to today’s mysterious-and-spooky query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) isn’t talking about who might be the best, but which casting decisions already made are unassailable, asking: What actor/role combination is the perfect casting in your mind?

Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

  1. Daniel Langsdale on

A good chunk of the MCU comes to mind. They have had excellent casting all around, but particularly RDJ as Tony Stark.

  2. Pretty much the entire cast of “The Princess Bride” (except that guy with the key at the gate of the castle…. never liked him)
