After looking at our wise men and women, I wanted to consider which three non-binary fictional folk I would want advising me, but sadly, I couldn’t find quite enough candidates.  Here’s hoping that next year, our favorite fictions will try and catch up with those outside the Mars/Venus camps, but that left me with a question of what to do for our third day.  I mean, three is right there in the title!  You can’t just stop at two!  Then I remembered R2-D2, the real hero of the first six Star Wars movies, leading me to wonder about the possibility of three wise droids, leading us to today’s trifectal query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would empanel V.I.N.Cent, The Vision and K-2SO from ‘Rogue One’, asking: What three Wise Droids would you choose for perfect counsel?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

Data for great calculation and analysis skills, Optimus Prime would be here too for moral counselling and finally Pepper, which isnt even fictional but has a tablet with internet access, so has all the knowledge ever
    readily available.

  2. Daniel Langsdale on

    – K-9, for the brilliant calculating mind and a nose laser, accompanied by his servant
    – Enoch, the sentient Chronicom from Chronyca 2, for the historical longview, wearing
    – Doctor Theopolis, for the legal acumen (and because a droid wearing a droid isn’t just droid-squared, it’s droid to the power of droid.)

  3. NB here! I also go by Rhobot for fun!! Saarinen from Ancillary Justice is of questionable gender, and might be droidish… they were a spaceship at one point, which to me is more droid than human. But I’m not sure I would choose them as one of my trusted counsel. I hope the world catches up and creates more such characters to choose from. The other two comments had some good answers, but I’m struggling with this one because I’m dreaming about characters I wish existed.
