Jim Terry’s Come Home, Indio: A Memoir is scheduled to arrive on Indigenous People’s Day.
Come Home, Indio: A Memoir is a powerful graphic novel which shares the author Jim Terry’s journey of discovering his spiritual home as a Native American. From a childhood in suburbia, disconnected from his identity as an Indigenous person, through an urban adulthood marked by a struggle with alcoholism and the death of his parents, to his life-altering experience at Standing Rock, he begins to find a new sense of self as a Native and as an American.
In a press release, Terry said, “The idea is that this book might be a hand reaching out. Perhaps one might chuckle at the recollections of an 80’s pop culture child, or identify with the often polarizing nature of being biracial? Maybe someone who’s been knocked around by intolerance, and toxic masculinity, or who has struggled with addiction, will hear a voice from someone who has been there too and is doing “okay” now.”
Come Home, Indio: A Memoir arrives on October 12, 2020.
