In a previous life, I worked Saturday mornings at a CBS affilliate, where my job was to run a single station ID at the end of every half-hour. The era in question meant I saw cartoon versions of ‘The Mask’, ‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective’ and ‘Timon and Pumbaa’, but also gems like ‘The Weird Al Show’, the final seasons of the TMNT and ‘The Adventures of Hyperman.’ Sadly, I was far too late to see ‘Pee Wee’s Playhouse’, but my enjoyment of the kids’ show has been a lifelong part of my pop culture footprint, leading to today’s Y7 query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) also misses the classic days of Nickelodeon, especially ‘You Can’t Do That On Television’, asking: What’s the best kids’ show of all time?

Every Saturday morning, I was glued to the TV. I am one of those ‘young’ enough to remember the Saturday morning live action shows like “H. R. Puffenstuff” and “Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.” I couldn’t tell you how many kids shows that were churned out over the years like “the Ghost Busters” from the 70’s (another live action). (It predated the ‘Real Ghostbusters” that was based on the movies.) Most of those shows are very forgettable.
The “Bugs Bunny Show” which ran under different names for decades was among the best.
There are many that I enjoy, but I think the objective Best of All Time has to be Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood.
I used to love love love Muppet Babies.
Wait, wait, how did I forget Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs??
Those old Warner & Disney shorts that probably aren’t allowed to be shown anymore.
i’m gonna echo the Warner Brothers/Looney Tunes and Tex Avery cartoons for nostalgic reasons, but i think we’re sort of living in a golden-age of kids shows right now. in the past 5-10 years, we’ve had Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, She-Ra, all dealing with subject matter beyond “good guys vs. bad guys” in a refreshingly frank manner.
