When I look back at the films of my youth, many of them have aged VERY badly. ‘Revenge of the Nerds?’ No. ‘The Breakfast Club?’ No. But none have caused me as much cognitive dissonance as the dispensation of ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.’ On the one hand, Ferris isn’t as rapey as the Lambdas nor as inappropriate as Bender’s actions towards Claire, but it’s not easy to decide whether he’s hero or monster. Not for nothin’ have people created a theory that Ferris is nothing more than Cameron’s wish-fullfillment alternate personality, because he’s not just improbably, he’s almost impossible, leading to today’s Danke Shön query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would still defend \The Blues Brothers,’ because who doesn’t hate Illiois N*zis, asking: Ferris Bueller: Hero or Monster?

Like Godzilla, he’s a little of both. Only it’s Chicago that gets trampled instead of Tokyo.
You’re Abe Ghidorah, the Kaiju King of Chicago?
