With the news of John Wick 4 & 5 being in some sort of pre-production, I have been thinking about the previous films, and how wrong I was about ’em.  When I read about the movie ‘John Wick‘, I expected another big dumb action flick full of senseless ultra-violence, goofy one-liners and the woodenness of Keanu Reeves.  After accidentally encountering it on cable, I am happy to say it’s much more than that, full of fun performances, inventive action sequences and fun (albeit incredibly violent and dark) world-building.  Best of all, every sequence features at least one game of “Hey, It’s That Guy!”, which is always a draw for me, and I enjoyed seeing the likes of Dean Winters, John Leguizamo and Willem Dafoe in scene-stealing action (as well as a cameo by Kevin Nash, as underrated an actor as he is overrated as World Champion.)  All in all, it was fun movie experience, leading to today’s three-gun query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) watched all of ‘John Wick’ repeating, “I have definitely played this mission as Nico Belic,” asking: Who’s the most dangerous fictional practitioner of ultra-violence of them all?

About Author

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

  1. In terms of sheer body count judge Dredd has to be up there. Even discounting all the times hes used weapons of mass destruction his personal tally still includes both Batman and the Devil

  2. I’m going to give a nod towards Samurai Jack. Most of his body count is made up of Censor Approved Dismembered Robots, but they still count. And, boy, does he stack them up.
