I first started reading comics regularly in the early 1980s, a time when Tony Stark was incapacitated and Barry Allen was on trial for the murder of Reverse-Flash. It was a memorable time for both heroes, and led to them being my favorites of their respective universes for a long time. Sadly, both characters fell out of my favor at different times (Tony when he faked his own death to try and scam his teammates, Barry much later, when he was resurrected and metaphorically canonized by DC editorial) and have been replaced. Instead of Flash or Iron Man, my favorite DC and Marvel characters are currently Wonder Woman and The Silver Surfer, but I still have a deep affection for the men in red, leading to today’s ‘Silver-Sentinel-is-the-best-Iron-Man-armor’ query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) isn’t going to provide the context for this one, allowing you to decide whether the question is “Who’s more powerful?”, “Who would you rather be?”, “Which most needs to get their stuff together?”, asking: The Flash or Iron Man?

Wow, you picked my two favorite characters from their respective universes.
If you forced me to pick a favorite, I’d probably go with Iron Man, because I find a flawed person who tries to do good a little more interesting to follow than a good person who has flaws.
But that’s also my general preference for Marvel coming through since they generally lean toward heroes who are a little more human whereas DC likes to present paragons to look up to. Neither is the wrong approach, but I prefer the former for storytelling.
Flash would totally win in a fight though.
Jay Garrick Flash.
