Recently, I had a discussion with someone about one of my favorite shows, ‘How I Met Your Mother’, and how he couldn’t ever get into it because of Barney.  Admittedly, in the annals of the fictional sociopath, Barney ranks quite high, right up there with Q and Damian Wayne, but at least he’s no Scott Pilgrim.  I mean, come on, the kid’s got charisma, but he’s a monster from top to bottom, leading us to today’s immoral query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) reminds Faithful Spoilerites once again that we deal in fictions here, so let’s not mention that guy from that place that one time, asking: Which jerk, cad, bounder or villain is the biggest FICTIONAL sociopath of them all?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

  1. Batman. And everyone seems to love him. Bigger than Damian, because that kid didn’t have a choice or yet have life experience to know any better.
