I admit it: I’m a sucker for a rom-com, if I’m in the right mood. I’ve seen Sandra Bullock breezily commit identity theft, Katherine Heigl tortured with a remote-controlled marital aide, even the spectacle of Meg Ryan getting hit by a bus after choosing to fall in love with the archangel Nick Cage. You could even make the argument that ‘Love, Simon’ is a rom-com where he falls in love with Kid Flash (and I have), leading to today’s Zooey Deschanel’s entire career query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) digs ‘500 Days of Summer’, but has to go with ‘High Fidelity’, where a terrible guy inexplicably gets an array of amazing women to kiss him amd then suddenly I remember the existence of ‘say anything…’, asking: What’s your favorite rom-com or rom-com adjacent story?

Yeesh. Looking at what I’ve rated 5-stars on my Netflix account, nothing comes close to this category. Sliding down to 4-stars, the closest best I’ve got for you is Chasing Amy.
That counts.
Lost in Translation. One of my favorite movies of all time and I hate romantic comedies.
I unironically love that movie. Every second of it…
