Since 2008, the Invincible Iron Man has been one of the highest profile superheroes around, thanks in part to the kid from ‘Less Than Zero.’  That has led to a LOT of high-profile stories featuring our favorite Shellhead, including cool moments like forging magical weapons with Asgardian dwarves, battling against his own addictions and facing down with Thanos himself.  It’s hard to beat moments like his all-out battle with The Hulk, ending with him collapsing in a crater, his power completely expended, which also leads us to today’s transistorized query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) isn’t limiting this to comics, either, especially since Tony was dead for a while and spent a couple years as a fascist before that, asking: What’s the most iconic Iron Man moment of all?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

For me, I will always remember the first time he used the pulse bolts on the Silver Centurian armor. I just thought they were so cool. No idea when it was… #200?

  2. JR JR stories. Storyline with Titanium man, Fin Fang Foom, Mandarin and Living Laser was the best fit of Romita Junior I’ve ever seen. Generally not the biggest fan of his style and terrible fit for Superman.
