Ever since the earliest days of comic books, magical powers have been a staple of the super-power business.  The original line-up of the Justice Society is six or seven guys who punch really hard, Wonder Woman and two mystical dynamoes who could stop all crime cold with a snap of their magical fingers.  The Magical Superhero even makes it’s way to the tech-wizard future of the Legion of Super-Heroes, with the White Witch, Kinetix and (if the sneak peeks are to be believed) Doctor Fate among ther ranks, leading to today’s arcane query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) loves Zatanna and enjoys some Doctor Strange, but my sentimental fave is Nightmaster, asking: Which Magical Superhero best combines the capes and tights with the bell, book and/or candle?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

Dr Fate definitely has that striking look to put him above other magical cape types. Gotta love the good helmet.
