There’s an old joke about how kids HATE getting presents that are practical, whereas grown-ups love the idea of Holiday Socks.  In my household, everyone gets socks and underwear as one of their gifts during the giving season, if only to keep from having to buy them twice a year.  And frankly, a nice pair of warm socks in Kansas in the winter is a real gift, which leads us to today’s crew-style knit query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is of an age (and size) where any gift of clothing that means I don’t have to go the Big & Tall Store is a win, asking: Would YOU appreciate the gift of Holiday Socks?

Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

Yes! But good socks – wool socks, preferably merino. Cashmere is yummy. I live in the north, have to walk my dog a couple miles a day and take her to the dog park when I can, so I truly appreciate warm feet.
