Crossovers and guest stars have long been a staple of comics, but these days it seems you can’t swing a cat in a comic shop without hitting a guest appearance by certain characters, usually the current and/or next big thing.  (Actually, comic-shop-cat-swinging is disallowed for any number of reasons, from animal cruelty to claw-damaged-back issues, but…  Bygones.)  Though Wolverine may be the quintessential example, Batman, Spider-Man and others have also reached a level of saturation where they’re just plain EVERYWHERE.  Call it overexposure, call it supply and demand, but however you slice it, you’ll probably find a Logan cameo somewhere in the mix, leading to today’s mutant query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is hoping for Squirrel Girl to guest-star in everything, from Punisher to Spider-Ham, asking: If you got to CHOOSE who became the “Next Big Thing,” what character would you choose and why?

I wouldn’t mind somewhat realistic and historically accurate samurai or ninja manga, like Lone wolf & Cub, Path of the assassin or Samurai Executioner to be back in fashion.

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.
