This week’s Major Spoilers Podcast review of Robotech got me thinking about the subject of anime.  Like how there’s always a bit of controversy involved with using the word “anime”, since it’s literally just the Japanese word for “animation” and thus just means cartoon.  Bygones…  For my part, I just call it a Japanese cartoon, which is both easier and a little bit more descriptive.  When I was a kid, they were all over the air-waves, from ‘Speed Racer’ to ‘8-Man’ and that creepy little dude, Astro Boy.  Of course, it was also nearly impossible to find such shows in their original formats and/or languages, leaving fans to watch scratchy dubs of dubious quality to get their fix of things like Macross, leading us to today’s super dimensional query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) will always vote ‘Battle of the Planets’ at the top of my lungs, ’cause I wanted to be Jason/Condor Jo, asking: What’s your fave-rave A-Number One Japanese cartoon?

Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.
