Recently, I was thinking back to a conversation about a sub-par comic book (which shall remain nameless, but has since been cancelled due to lack of readership), a book so bleah that it prompted co-worker Chris to remark that he expected Torgo to show up and threaten us with the presence of The Master… The discussion led me to wonder what Joel and The Bots might have to say about comic books and TV circa 2018 and wondering what would be the best MST3K candidate. At least I got to end my self-conversation with a sudden frisson of excitement at remembering that Mystery Science Theatre is back again, leading to today’s Gizmonic query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is just a regular guy in a red jumpsuit, asking: What comic, movie or television show do you think makes the best MST3K candidate?

Either of the two Gamera reboots, but the mid/late 90’s trilogy is probably the best bet. Some of my favorite MST3K episodes involved riffing giant monster movies (including the classic Gamera films), and the Gamera reboot films are overflowing with potential riff material.
Any of the recent Transformers movies. They were never great, but lately they don’t even make narrative sense half of the time.
Hmm, one quite recent comes to mind: Cloverfield Paradox. Its got plenty of material for that.
Given Halle Berry has been talking about this movie lately: Catwoman.
Has anyone ever seen Blood Beach (1980)?
