Say what you will about the ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ inspired take on the Wacky Races from DC, it made people aware of exactly who Penelope Pitstop and her mates are.  Having grown up on that show, I have semi-fond memories of Professor Pat Pending’s Convert-A-Car and the Ant Hill Mob, but I’m not sure if they would be up to the challenge of Mario’s blue shell.  For that matter, I’m not sure that they could handle Captain Falcon or Primus’ titular Jerry, much less Brewster Baker, the hero of ‘Six Pack.’  Of course, one thing is clear: In a competition for Greatest Racer, Bo and Luke could wipe the track with anybody of the Fast/Furious types, even Groot Torretta, leading to today’s high-octane query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) knows who my vote is going to be for, it’s literally right there in his name, asking: Which fictional speed demon is the greatest racer of them all?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.
