Here’s the thing about a pop culture crush: It’s all about appreciation.  As someone who honestly believes that every living human being is beautiful if you catch her at the right point, admitting that, say, Kristen Bell is adorable and charismatic in ‘The Good Place’ is just stating the obvious.  My wife will watch nearly anything featuring Nathan Fillion or Mark Harmon, and I don’t have all the episodes of ‘The Jim Gaffigan Show’ on my DVR out of completism.

Okay, not *entirely* out of completism.  I’m still a nerd collector, after all, leading us to today’s Ashley-Graham-inspired query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is really psyched for the New Warriors series, with my favorite funny woman as Squirrel Girl, asking: Who is your most enduring pop culture crush?

Matthew Peterson

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.

Probably Alyson Hannigan. Based only on Willow, but that’s the only thing I need to see.

Jasmine from Dekaranger. More specifically, her actress, Ayumi Kinoshita, who is one of those people who has held multiple significant roles across both Super Sentai and Kamen Rider (as well as other roles, including anime voice work), but I do adore Jasmine the most out of all of her roles.

I also have never gotten over my youthful crush on Kimberly, the original Pink Power Ranger. Even seeing the actress now sets my heart aflutter.
