When it comes to comic books, animal-themed characters make up a huge portion of the population, and I suspect that more than half of those end up being a cat-person of one stripe or another.  Whether cat-powered like Tigra or cat-themed like Selina Kyle or even tangentially catified, like Soviet Super Soldier Sibercat, a ton of our favorite fictional folk emulate lions, tigers or even the common housecat.  As such, it’s nearly impossible to decide who is the best of the best, so that’s exactly what we’re gonna do with today’s spade and neutered query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still loves the 70s Atlas Comics hero Tiger-Man, whose costume was mostly blue and who fought a fellow cat called The Blue Leopard, who didn’t wear much blue, asking: Which fictional feline feller or female is your fave-rave cat-person?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

  1. Second #1 vote for Tigra. Black Cat gets a silver medal. Third place goes to Felicia from Capcom’s Darkstalkers games.
