On the same night that a random criminal killed Thomas and Martha Wayne, a young police rookie named James Gordon accidentally shot a man in the process of committing a crime. Just as baby Bruce took that formative tragedy and remolded himself into an engine of justice, his unnamed counterpart took it upon himself to become a parallel-but-opposite engine of… anti-justice? Whatever that word should be. The Wrath and Batman clashed only a few times, with more than one of them being fatal (because universal reboots, y’all), but his motivation is as clear and understandable as Batman’s own: Someone killed his father, and now he will do everything in his power to avenge him and make sure it doesn’t happen again…
