The best day of the week just got a lot better with a new round of awesome comics arriving in stores this week. Staff members at Major Spoilers are here to help you with your comic book selection this week, with their roundup of comics they recommend.

Writer: Donny Cates
Artist: Ian Bederman
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $5.99
SOLICITATION: Behold, puny earth things! A deluxe, oversized collection of the story originally serialized in Heavy Metal magazine, this is the complete adventure of the Cyberzerker and his mighty Atomahawk! Join them on their quest to free their imprisoned God, and find out why GRANT MORRISON calls it: “A screaming black hole feedback squall of death metal Kirby-kozmik energy spinning straight towards your prefrontal cortex. DONNY CATES and IAN BEDERMAN forge a stylish, super-heavy 21st-century mythology of blood, sentient steel, and rebel circuitry. A razor-nova of explosive writing and searing visuals that bury themselves deep in your skull. ATOMAHAWK REX!”

MATTHEW: Sometimes, the title is all you need.

Writer: Scott Snyder
Artis: Greg Capulo
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Superman is pulled into the mystery of the Dark Multiverse while the Justice League follows the trail to a weapon that could keep the forces of the Dark Multiverse at bay!

STEPHEN: You can’t stop the metal, so why would you not pick up this excellent series?

WAYNE: Superman getting involved in this event has me truly intrigued! But it already had me at Snyder/Capullo!

Writer: Jack Kirby
Artist: Jack Kirby
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $29.99
SOLICITATION: Jack Kirby’s legendary creation, Etrigan the Demon, is back in a new title collecting his entire original 16-issue series. From the streets of Gotham City, demonologist Jason Blood battles occult evil as the Demon, taking on the menaces of Morgaine le Fey, Klarion the Witchboy and his familiar, Teekl, and much more!

MATTHEW: 40 years down the line, it’s hard to believe that Jack Kirby’s second DC run was less than successful. Though Etrigan’s series only ran 16 issues, it’s been a cornerstone of DC’s shared universe faux history ever since, and this collection is well and truly overdue.

Writer: James Tynion IV
Artist: Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira
Publisher: DC Comics

Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: “A LONELY PLACE OF LIVING” part two! Tim Drake has been locked in Mr. Oz’s fortress-but now he’s free and roaming the prison while his captor faces off against the Man of Steel. But is he the only prisoner who’s been freed?!

WAYNE: I continue to love this series! Highly recommended, one of DC’s best!

Writer: Rodney Barnes
Artist: Joshua Cassara
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Sam Wilson – winged warrior, avian Avenger and one-time sentinel of liberty – takes to the skies again, reborn and recommitted as the fighter for freedom, THE FALCON! Engaged in an all-new assignment while training his new partner THE PATRIOT, Sam Wilson soars high and sees all. But Sam’s new mission finds him on a collision course with an enemy way out of his weight class-the demonic BLACKHEART! Writer Rodney Barnes (THE BOONDOCKS) joins artist Joshua Cassara (SECRET EMPIRE: UNDERGROUND) to challenge Sam Wilson as never before! From the stratosphere to the streets, the Marvel Universe now has a high-flying hero circling above them ready to strike!

MATTHEW: With his run as Captain America done, it’s time to see if Marvel can keep Sam Wilson at the top of their super-heap. The character has certainly earned it, but coming out of the mess of Secret Empire unscathed is going to be quite the trick…

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Howard Porter

Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: “BLACK HOLE RISING”! While the Flash’s negative Speed Force powers begin to take their deadly toll on Barry Allen’s life, Black Hole begins its most audacious assault yet when the criminal outfit finally assumes control of S.T.A.R. Labs!

WAYNE: This is some of the best Flash I’ve read in years! I hope you’re enjoying it, too!

Writer: Tom King
Artist: Mitch Gerads
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The groundbreaking new series from the creators of The Sherriff of Babylon and BATMAN #14-15 continues. The insanity of war is the insanity of Mister Miracle. Darkseid and Orion’s forces clash violently on the battlefields of New Genesis. Stained with blood and glory, the New Gods fight on. As they move closer to victory, Scott and Barda begin to see that every step forward leads them into a deadly trap. Where do you run when the path ahead is your enemy’s triumph and the path behind is your family’s defeat?

STEPHEN: This has to be one of the most interesting, most disturbing, and most grown up comic from DC Comics that I’ve read in a long time. The art and underlying message keeps drawing me back issue after issue. This may be one of my top comic series for 2017.
