She’s the best there is at what she does, and everybody knows it.  She’s the Ace!  She’s fantastic!  When it comes to our imaginary pop culture friends, there are a lot of people who have a staggering number of skills in play.  Unlike us real schmucks, Batman will always have a contingency plan, The Roadrunner will always get the best of Wile E. Coyote and John Cena will win even when he loses.  For some characters, there’s no such thing as a bad day at the office, no such thing as a missed opportunity, which leads us to today’s idealized query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) will always and forever vote for Dangersmouse, the strongest, the quickest, the best, asking: Who is the most impressive example of The Ace in your favorite pop culture?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

  1. Kazuchika Okada from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Fantastic face of the company, during his time as the top guy company has grown significantly. Also one of the best in ring wrestlers in the world, probably ever and already breaking records of all time longest championship run & best rated matches. Guy is 29 years old, and he’s been in main events for over 5 years already, way younger than people like Rock or Austin were in their prime.

  2. Max Sterling / Maximilian Jenius from Robotech / Macross.

That guy can fly rings around the best of the best in either fighter, guardian or battloid (battroid) form. Plus, as a bonus, in America he was voiced by Cam Clarke!
