Among the most exciting of DC’s upcoming ‘Dark Matter’ announcements for me is ‘The Terrifics’, featuring a team of Mister Terrific, Plastic Man, Phantom Girl and Metamorpho, specifically designed to evoke the classic Fantastic Four.  With Marvel not having the FF in their own title for a couple of years now, it seems like the kind of friendly competition/rivalry that I remember from the big two companies when I was young (as opposed to the mean-spirited jabs that seem to be norm after the turn of the century.)  Not only does the concept intrigue me, but the characters and creators seem like something new and different, even with the familiar elements, leading to today’s doppelgangery query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would love to see Marvel respond with a series featuring their take on the likewise MIA Legion Of Super-Heroes, seein’ as how turnabout is fair play, asking: Do you enjoy when comics companies engage in friendly rivalry, ala The Terrifics?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.

Every now and then yeah. If its overdone and used constantly, it tends to get old pretty quickly.
